Jerry Parr

Jerry S. Parr (September 16, 1930 – October 9, 2015) was a United States Secret Service agent. He was one of the agents protecting President Reagan on the day of his assassination attempt on March 30, 1981, and is widely credited with helping to save the President’s life.

Education

Parr received his B.A. in English and Philosophy from Vanderbilt University in 1962. In 1987, he received his M.S. in pastoral counseling from Loyola University in Maryland.

An ordained minister, in 1987, Parr was awarded an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters from Eureka College.
