Zoe Saldana is the Only Person to Appear in Two Movies Making $2 Billion or More at the Box Office.

Avatar, which belongs to Disney after the Fox acquisition, first became the best-selling global release of all time in 2010 when it passed Cameron’s own 1997 Titanic. Disney now estimates Avatar’s worldwide gross to be $2.802B versus Endgame’s $2.797B. Endgame surpassed Avatar in July 2019, but now the latter has reclaimed the lead. But did you know that Zoe Saldana appeared in two films that made over $2 billion?

Only Zoe Saldana has appeared in two films that have grossed $2 billion or more at the box office.

The Two Time Two Billion Dollar Movie Actress

Avatar recently reclaimed the title of the highest-grossing film of all time, and Avengers: Endgame star Zoe Saldana says the success of both films humbles her. More than ten years have passed since the theatrical release of the wildly popular 2009 film Avatar.

When the film first came out, viewers were astounded by the innovative visual effects and thrilling cinematic experience. James Cameron’s blockbuster movie eventually made $2.789 billion worldwide, breaking his previous record-holder, Titanic.

The new global total for the movie is $2.798 billion, which is one million more than the current total for Avengers: Endgame. A running joke about the whole thing is that Zoe Saldana is the true winner because she was in both movies. Saldana played Neytiri in Avatar and Gamora in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). She made appearances in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame and the critically acclaimed Guardians of the Galaxy movies. As the only actor or actress to star in two $2 billion films, Saldana has broken a record and is now recognizing it.  (Source: Screen Rant

Marvel and Avatar Franchises and Zoe Saldana

Saldana will reprise her roles in both franchises for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and will return to the Avatar sequels in the part of Neytiri. Since the release of the first film, fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Avatar 2. However, director James Cameron has been busy working on not one but four Avatar sequels simultaneously. Cameron finished filming Avatar 2 despite production delays brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, and Avatar 3 was scheduled to wrap up immediately after it.

The Russo Brothers and Marvel Studios joined Saldana in congratulating Cameron and the Avatar cast on outperforming Avengers: Endgame. It’s difficult to predict whether Avatar 2 will surpass its predecessor’s box office record, despite the highly anticipated sequels having a lot to live up to. Saldana undoubtedly struck it lucky with the projects she chose; that is obvious.  (Source: Screen Rant

Only Two at the Top

While a few movies have come close, Avengers: Endgame is the only one to have outperformed Avatar in terms of the box office. The fourth Avengers movie, the twenty-second in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, had earned $2.797 billion by its theatrical run.

Given the intense hype and expectation surrounding the film, it was no surprise that the superhero blockbuster won the title. However, Avatar has reclaimed the title of the highest-grossing film of all time thanks to a re-release in China. (Source: Screen Rant
