Dolly Parton Once Entered a Dolly Look-Alike Contest and Lost — To a Man

We’ve always known Dolly Parton to have a wicked sense of humor (she once quipped: “I tried every diet in the book. I tried some that weren’t in the book. Then I tried eating the book and it tasted better than most of the diets!”). A resurfaced quote from 2012 is proof that Dolly knows two things: country music and how to make people laugh. In an interview while promoting her memoir, Dream More (Buy on Amazon, $14.30), the country legend shared a hilarious anecdote about the time she entered a look-alike contest as herself — and lost.

Dolly decided to enter a drag queen celebrity impersonator contest years ago in Los Angeles without revealing her identity. “They had a bunch of Chers and Dollys that year, so I just over-exaggerated — mad… Continue Reading (2 minute read)

Cause it was a drag contest. She was the only woman.

Well if that doesn’t give you an existential crisis, I don’t know what will.

This is a really misleading title. It was a drag competition, not a realistic lookalike competition.

It actually reminds me of Mario Puzo, the author of The Godfather. He didn’t have any formal training in screenwriting and never written a script for movies before. After winning academy awards for both movies, he decided to learn more about screenwriting, so he bought a book. In the first chapter of that book, it was wriiten that the best thing can an aspiring screenwriter do is to study ‘The Godfather’

The winner also told Dolly het tits were not big enough…

Which is hilarious a huge 6 foot guy in drag as Dolly; beat her at a look alike contest… and then tells her her tits are not big enough.

Can we seriously get her a statue or something. Shes an absolute legend.

She didn’t secretly enter it at all – it was obvious who she was. Also, it was a DRAG version of a lookalike contest, so naturally she would lose to a man.

The amount of times this “fact” gets posted here, you’d think everyone would realize how wrong it is by now.

Well to be fair if its a contest about looking like somebody you shouldn’t win for actually being that person
