What is Queen Elizabeth’s Favorite Movie?

Queen Elizabeth is the monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. She overtook Victoria as the longest-reigning queen in British history in 2015. She is quite fascinating. But did you ever wonder what her favorite movie was?

Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite film is “Flash Gordon.” She watches the film with her grandchildren every Christmas. When actor Brian Blessed saw the Queen, she asked if he would mind announcing “Gordon’s alive” if he didn’t mind.

Flash Gordon is the Royalty’s Choice

Brian Blessed claims that the Queen told him that her favorite movie is Flash Gordon, a 1980 science fiction flick in which he plays Prince Vultan.

On Yahoo Movies, the actor spoke to Edith Bowman about the film’s 40th anniversary and how people always ask him to recite his character’s catchphrase.

Everywhere I go, they all want me to say ‘Gordon’s alive!’,” “The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, horses and queens, and prime ministers, they all want me to say ‘Gordon’s alive!’, it’s their favorite film. The Queen, it’s her favorite film, she watches it with her grandchildren every Christmas.

The actor then adopted the Queen’s accent, quoting her, saying;

You know the grandchildren and I watch Flash Gordon all the time. And, if you don’t mind, since I’ve got the grandchildren here, would you mind saying, ‘Gordon’s alive?’

It’s unclear when the Queen made the reported disclosure, but she did award Blessed an OBE in 2016 for services to the arts and charity. Little is known about her movie preferences, but it has been reported that she enjoys watching television shows such as Pointless, The Bill, Downton Abbey, and The Crown.

The Corgi Queen

Throughout her life, she has owned more than 30 corgis. Spending time in the countryside, horseback riding, and walking her dogs are among the Queen’s interests. Her favorite dog breed is the Pembroke Welsh corgi. In 1947, she brought her corgi Susan on her honeymoon, and in the spring of 2021, she received a corgi puppy as a gift from family members.

The royal corgis have become synonymous with the Queen. In 2002, a British coin commemorating Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee featured the monarch with a corgi. The Queen was pictured with four of her dogs on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine to commemorate her 90th birthday.

Who is the Most-Travelled Monarch

Queen Elizabeth II is the world’s most traveled monarch. The Queen’s parents and grandparents traveled extensively in the British Empire and then the Commonwealth, but she holds the record for the most countries visited by a single monarch: more than 120 on six continents.
The Queen has visited Canada more than any other country other than the United Kingdom, with 23 official royal tours between 1951 and 2010. (Source: The Canadian Encyclopedia)
